Yamaha A3000 Tempo Delay Calculator
Have you ever missed having a Tempo Delay on your Yamaha A3000 sampler? I know it's on the A4k and A5k (which I don't have) but I really miss it on the A3k (it's so useful on my AN1x)... so, I wrote this delay calculator targeted specifically at the A3k.
However, as I'm sure you know if you have an A3k, the delay times work in increments of 10 (after 100ms), so unless the BPM delay of your song is correct for a delay in milliseconds exactly divisible by 10, the delay will sound a little bit out of time.
That is where my A3k Delay Calculator comes in handy - it's able to do a reverse-lookup to find a better BPM (nearest, faster and slower suggestions) for your tune so your tempo delays will be spot on! You can even download a standalone HTML version - only 2.24Kb, just unzip and open in your web browser!
Instructions
- Set your A3k FX block (I suggest the middle one) to "X-Delay"
- Set "1: Dry/Wet Balance" to an appropriate level (eg. "D15/W")
- Set "4: Feedback Level" to an appropriate level (eg. the default "+47")
- Set "5: Input Select" to "R" (should be the default)
- Type the BPM of your tune into the calculator (eg. "138" or "170.25")
- Set "2: Delay Time L > R" to the "Nearest 10" value from the calculator
- Set "3: Delay Time R > L" to the "Nearest 10" value from the calculator
- If you wish to have a more exact tempo delay, select a BPM from the choices offered by the calculator
- Click the button next to the BPM of your choice to calculate values for that BPM
- Adjust the BPM of your tune appropriately
- Adjust the delay FX settings of the sampler appropriately
