Happy War Everyone!!
Posted Tuesday 18th March 2003
So, it seems as if the war is almost upon us.
Well, I'd just like to take this opportunity to personally thank George W. Bush for making our world a safer place. No really, I would. Hopefully this will be the last thing he does before the world wakes up to what an evil, corporate-sponsored, war-mongering bastard he is and removes him from power. I sincerely hope this will be the case, so that we can all try to live in peace with one another. (I guess that might be a bit too much to ask for... peace, you know, lack of war... remember that one?)
Since it is a UN resolution (indeed, previous UN resolutions too) that he seems to be so keen to enforce, perhaps he should recognise that it is up to the UN (not him) to decide what has been violated and what should be done about it. It seems that the UN decision has been made quite clear about this one - nobody really supports this war (or, those countries that do "support the war" all support it with some serious reservations), and yet, he is so keen to press ahead with his war - he just isn't listening to ANYONE!
So, lets get a few things straight, shall we:
The real tyrannical dictator and threat to world peace here is George W. Bush. He is the only one with his finger on the button, about to kill people in another nation. The mere notion that Iraq could somehow attack the USA is laughable to say the least. (But that is what Bush would have you believe, thanks to the panic tactics that have been constantly used since September 11th 2001).
The real terrorists here are the US and UK military. Personally, I would question the mentality of anyone who would kill total strangers as part of their job because their government tells them to do so.
Bush does not give a fuck about the people of Iraq. How can you combine compassion for the people of a country with a massive bombing campaign that will "shock and awe" them into surrender? Seems a little bit of a contradiction (indeed, a rather large-scale act of terrorism), if you ask me.
The real reason for this war is oil. Bush is lying when he says that the "oil will be held in trust for the Iraqi people" - who can trust any government body (or other organisation) to "hold in trust" anything that is worth so much money? At the very least, there will be corruption and creative accounting, aside from the fact that the US will be able to acquire cheap oil from there freely after occupation anyway.
If the oil belongs to the Iraqi people (as Mr. Bush says), then it is not his place to demand they do not destroy the oil wells - that's hardly very democratic of you Mr Bush, is it? Aside from the question of "why is he so worried about the oil that he feels the need to talk about it in his speech?" - if the oil had nothing to do with this war, he wouldn't mention it. His motives are so obvious I'd be surprised if a three year old child couldn't spot them.
So, we can but hope that this long campaign of lying to the world is about to come to an end. Mr Bush, and to a large extent, Mr. Blair - I wish you both a very successful political suicide.
SPEAK OUT AGAINST INJUSTICE!!
(Some afterthoughts, added an hour later...)
I am sick to death of all this bullshit. How can we stop it... please, somebody just fucking tell me!!
The world has become such a horrible, greedy and evil place - I often feel ashamed to be part of the species responsible for everything.
But then I remember that in general, a lot of people are not like this and do not have anything to do with it - it's just those in power who are ruining our little piece of the universe for everyone else.
Well, I wish they would just fucking stop it.
There's room here for all of us, we can all have different beliefs and opinions, and nobody needs to get killed EVER for that to be the case. All it needs is for people to stop being so fucking greedy all the time and accept that the greater good of all humanity is more important than they are.
In the general long-term scheme of things, there is so much at stake (our entire existence), and yet we (as a species) are so quick to destroy everything that we can... and for what? It's just so fucking pointless!
This whole war is so injust and totally wrong... it's quite depressing to feel so powerless to stop it. I've only been awake a few hours and I'm having a crap day already.
